Computational Advertising -- The Science Behind Online Advertising and its Challenges

Abstract:
The central challenge in online advertising is -- "showing the best ad to the right user, at the right time to maximize the return for the publisher and the advertiser". As large advertiser networks such as Google, Yahoo, Microsoft and academics are strive to solve this problem, it has led to a new sub discipline in computer science -- Computational Advertising. The goal of this talk will be to understand the challenge and explore the fundamental areas of computer science which are being applied to solve it.
