We are excited to announce the acquisition of gomtec by ABB (https://pr.ai/showthread.php?2385), the leading power and automation group. This acquisition will be mutually beneficial for both the Robotics business of ABB and for gomtec, as well as the customers of both organizations.
ABB pioneered the world’s first industrial paint robot in the 1960s and the world’s first commercially-available, all-electric, microprocessor-controlled robot in the 1970s. Today it is a global leader in robot automation with more than a quarter of a million robots installed worldwide.
Given the importance of the rise of Human-Robot Collaboration in the manufacturing arena, the collaborative robots and supporting technology that gomtec is developing will play a key role in ABB’s Next Level strategy to support the explosion in robotic automation,and will complement ABB’s existing portfolio of robotic solutions.
