Paul the robot drawing Patrick

Uploaded on Jun 20, 2011

Paul the robot drawing Patrick at tenderpixel gallery, London. Paul the robot was part of Patrick Tresset's exhibition at tenderpixel in central London.
Some of the technologies used to drive Paul were developped by Patrick Tresset in the context of AIkon-II, a research project co-directed with Prof. Fol Leymarie, hosted at Goldsmiths college and funded in part by a 3.5 year research grant from the Leverhulme Trust

It may not be a Da Vinci or Kahlo, but this painting robot packs quite the artistic punch for it’s size. In this Instructable, Ill show you how I went from concept to completion and built a painting robot arm using an Intel Galileo, a camera, and handful of electronic parts. I’ll share the techniques I used so you can build your own 4 degree of freedom of expression robot.

[PishRobot] 3DOF Painter by Ahmad

Published on Jan 30, 2016

Hi,
My name is Ahmad Mohtasham Matin.
I have been attending in PishRobot’s STEM classes (https://pr.ai/showthread.php?6234) for years.

I've made a Painter Robot. Painter Robots can be used in industry for example for painting the cars and buildings or they can be used in the other ways like for entertainment or for painting special geometrical shapes that are hard to draw such as circles.
It can also redraw the shapes that we teach to the robot.
We can improve this robot by adding image processing capability to it so it can take a picture and redraw it for us.
We can also improve the robot by more accurately drawing the shapes.

Sketch, an artistic robot from Stanford's Experimental Robotics Class

Published on Dec 16, 2016

Sketch, a robot artist from Stanford's Experimental Robotic class, is a bit of a perfectionist. Sketch renders a sketch from any JPEG image; this took about eight minutes, longer than usual, because the robot used multiple dots and short lines to represent leaves.

Painting with a drone

Published on Oct 26, 2016

I came up with this idea when a few people called me the Bob Ross of the R/C world. Please turn on closed captioning, the microphone stopped recording audio half way through but I have painstakingly closed captioned every line of dialog.

Because we have no financial patrons, only fans,I had to save up money over the last few months before I could justify buying $12 bucks worth of paints, brushes, and some poster board to give it a try but the results wear very artistic. In my next video, I will be burning the painting and brushes to keep warm through the winter.

This one of a kind painting is up for sale to one lucky individual who is interested in a beautiful piece of at art that showcases a blending of modern technology, paint, brush, and video.

Sand drawing robot (new version)

Jun 20, 2020

I made a sand drawing robot with 50 miniature servos and a two half tanks, I use an Arduino Mega 2560 to read from an sd card a text file with the desired image and send the servo position data to another two Arduino Mega that then send the adequate signals to the servos. 5 DC to DC converters connected to a 6S LiPo battery provide enough power to support the stalling current of all the 50 servos at once. Two half tanks provide enough grip and torque to drag all the servos through the sand. The entire thing weighs around 14 Kg in working order (with the batteries on) so I had to build a tailor made trailer to cary the thing as there's quite a walking distance to the test field.
I made another version a couple of years ago that can be seen here:
youtube.com/watch?v=7T1esQgRwrM (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7T1esQgRwrM)
This new version draws way faster than the previous one but the older one had way more contrast, it is time to think on an MkIII
