How DJ Made The JD Robot Move

Published on Jul 30, 2014

There have been questions on the EZ-Robot Community Forum on how DJ was able to make JD move and do handstands, etc... I grabbed the camera and we made a quick unedited video to answer that question for the community.

See, it's easy :)

EZ-Robot's JD humanoid robot product overview

Published on Dec 3, 2015

JD is a fully functional humanoid robot kit built with ez-bits invented in Canada. This humanoid design is fun and educational! JD boasts 16 degrees of freedom with metal gear heavy duty servo motors. That means he has 16 motorized joints for walking, dancing or anything that you teach him!
The camera in the head of this robot can be used for vision recognition to track color, motion, glyphs, QR codes, faces and more. There are 18 RGB LEDs in the eyes of JD, which can be easily programmed and animated for unlimited expressions of up to 1 million colors. The included EZ-Builder Software makes it easy to create movements, programs and personalized mobile apps for your phone!
JD includes apps for walking, dancing, and even playing the piano! The EZ-Builder Software includes an amazing and easy-to-use animation GAIT feature called Auto Positioner. This allows you to create movement animations for your robot to walk, dance or give high fives! The animations can be triggered by other input controls, such as Speech Recognition, Vision Tracking, Joysticks, Wii Controllers, and more.
JD’s eyes have 18 RGB LEDs (9 per eye), which can be configured to animate patterns with 1 million color combinations. A robot wouldn’t be a robot without a camera for vision recognition. So, we installed our a camera in the head which can track and learn colors, objects, faces, motion, glyphs, and more.
The camera features advanced vision learning, detection and tracking abilities. Your ezrobot can interact with objects, colors, faces, motion, glyphs, and QR codes!
The compact grippers are powered by strong metal geared servo motors, allowing your robot to interact with soft, light objects. We recommend colored foam balls – the kind you can find at any value, hobby, or department store. They are perfect for your robot to grip and interact with.
Customize your robot with ez-bits. All ezrobot Revolution parts include ez-bit connections. Simply slide the tab into the slot to establish a secure bond. The parts may be separated by sliding them apart. Multiple ez-bits can be connected together to make arms, legs, or anything else you dream up!
In the classroom or at home, ezrobot Revolution has a big impact on STEM education. Learn about robots, and have fun doing it! With hundreds of tutorials, no questions are left unanswered. Personalizing your ezrobot with new behaviors will teach students how robots walk, see, hear and interact with their surroundings to solve problems using a combination of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Visit the EZ-Robot School!
Give your robot or IoT project the gift of sight with live streaming video. View the video on your mobile device or PC over the WiFi connection of the EZ-B v4.
Robots need a voice! The EZ-B v4 has a built-in speaker to stream live audio from the PC or Mobile Device. Play music, sound effects or even text-to-speech through your robot or IoT project.
If hardware is the heart of your ez-robot, then software is the soul. Introducing ez-builder, the world’s easiest, most powerful, and most scalable robotics software. ez-builder takes a productive and unique approach to programming your robot. Simply add behaviors such as camera tracking, speech recognition, Wii controllers, GPS, GAIT positioning, and hundreds more!
Like a flip book, the Auto Position in ez-builder is used to animate your ezrobot. It’s like magic! Simply move your robot into positions to create an animation routine.
