• Five-Year Anniversary of ROS

    Robot Operating System (ROS) created in 2007 by the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and developed further in Willow Garage to his fifth anniversary implemented in more than 90 types of robots.


    First of all, this is robots itself Willow Garage PR2 (Personal robot) and TurtleBot. Also Aldebaran Nao, iRobot Roomba, WowWee Rovio, Lego NXT, Parrot AR.Drone and many other.


    ROS provides libraries and tools to help software developers create robot applications. ROS is completely open source (BSD) and free. Primary goal is to enable software developers to build more capable robot applications quickly and easily on a common platform. The latest sixth version of ROS, Groovy Galapagos, is currently in Beta 1 Release.


    11-12 May 2013 in Stuttgart, Germany consists ROSCon 2013, immediately following ICRA in the neighboring town Karlsruhe. Roboticists can visit just two wonderful conferences.
