Bio-inspired Sea Snake Robot
Published on Nov 13, 2014
Quote:
Introducing the Bio-inspired Sea Snake Robot, a team of mechanical engineering students have developed the initial prototype of Australia's first robotic sea snake for their 2014 Honours project at the University of Adelaide.
The BISS robot has taken inspiration from sea snake morphology and swimming style, and will be able to navigate complex marine environments in order to help researchers discreetly study sea snakes and other marine life.
This project will be an ongoing collaboration with computer scientists, environmental scientists and engineers within an interdisciplinary research group.
Presented at MechExpo (Ingenuity) 2014, Bio-inspired Sea Snake Robot was winner of the People's Choice Award.
