Thymio II, the educational robot unveiled at the EPFL robotic festival last year, can now be programmed in a graphical environment, completing the set of creative tools associated with it. It can thus be programmed by younger kids, allowing them to animate their creations, such as dragons, parrots or robotic helicopters. Developed by a team of the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL), the Ecole d'Art de Lausanne, the Eidgenossische Technische Hochschule Zurich (ETHZ) and the Mobsya association in the framework of the Swiss National Center for Competence in Research "Robotics", Thymio II was distributed to more than 1000 children in Switzerland.
