What makes a supercomputer?

How do engineers build today's supercomputers, and how are the world's fastest computers ranked? We visit the Texas Advanced Computing Center, home of one of the world's top supercomputing clusters, to learn about and how researchers tap into petaflops of processing power. We're talking about a system with 270 Terabytes of RAM and 14 Petabytes of storage!

US Unveils The World's Fastest Supercomputer - 200 PetaFLOPS - Summit

After five years of being second place to China the US has finally unveiled a supercomputer at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee that takes back the number one spot. Summit’s speeds, announced on Friday, boggle the mind. It can do mathematical calculations at the rate of 200 quadrillion per second, or 200 PetaFLOPS.
