SPARUS II AUV developed by the University of Girona. The video shows the operation of the vehicle during several trials done in 2014. The AUV can be easily deployed and recovered using its trolley. The hovering capability allows its operation in confined environments such as water tanks or swimming pools. It is also useful for inspection and seabed observation. The efficient hydrodynamics allows high speed (up to 4 knots) and long autonomy (14 hours at 1 knot). The vehicle was conceived as an open platform with a payload area to integrate end-user equipment and ROS software framework for vehicle control and perception. DVL, pressure sensor, IMU and GPS are used for navigation with high accuracy.
