Spin Master, 2016's Toy of the Year recipient for Hatchimals, is ready for the 2017 holiday season with a new take on BB-8. This version is closer in size to the droid in the Star Wars films "The Force Awakens" and "The Last Jedi." But what's most impressive is that this BB-8 can be controlled by remote - OR you can train him to recognize your voice and follow you around.
In this video demonstration by a Spin Master representative, you can see how BB-8 responds to your questions. Mention Rey and he gets very excited. But mention that you saw some Stormtroopers or even the name Kylo Ren and he gets scared, running away to find a hiding spot.
This toy is fairly advanced and weighs about 8 pounds, making it appealing to adult collectors in addition to kids. The price point is expected to be around $300, but even with a high price tag I wouldn't be surprised if this is next winter's hard-to-find gift.
