RoboGames 2013 - Sunday - Original Sin vs Last Rites

I noticed that my in-arena camera had filled its card, so I grabbed the backup ContourHD and hand-held it above the frame behind the single-pane Lexan which is much clearer (and thinner).

At 12 seconds , Last Rites hit Original Sin and flew into the Lexan directly in front of me, Simone and Dave.

The force of the blast knocked the camera away from the arena, but not out of my hand. I resumed filming as soon as I could, and I swept the judges platform to get a glimpse of the reactions.

The force of the blow stopped the referee's clock, so the match had to be paused while the clock was reset.

RoboGames and Combots are always exciting, but the intensity goes up several levels of magnitude whenever the RioBotz team competes and even more when they win. This afternoon they scored a quick, precise, and very calculated knock out shortly after the opening bell.
