Australian drones help deliver life-saving vaccines to remote areas of Vanuatu

Jan 18, 2019

The Australian Government is funding a program to deliver vaccines into remote villages using drones.

The drones, developed by Australian company Swoop Aero, can carry vaccine doses in small insulated boxes at speeds of 100 kilometres per hour. They can deliver to areas that are normally accessed by hours-long boat rides or two days of walking.

In Vanuatu, only 1 in 5 children are currently vaccinated against life-threatening diseases such as measles.
