We’ve all loved watching robots and automated machinery in countless Hollywood blockbusters but who would imagine that an Indian start-up is making waves by creating automated warehouse solutions via robotics.

Founded by Samay Kohli and Akash Gupta, Gurgaon-based Grey Orange launched itself as an education and training company in the robotics space in 2009. However, it soon transformed itself into an industrial robot manufacturing company. Today, the company deals with robots that work in countless warehouses of retail, e-commerce and logistics companies and aim at faster product flow and minimizing errors for efficient deliveries.

In 2014, Grey Orange raised its Series A funding round worth Rs. 54 crore from Tiger Global and Blume Ventures. Apart from domestic companies, this innovative start-up has also attracted foreign enterprises from China and other Southeast Asian countries. Its Butler and Sorter models have particularly sparked a huge amount of interest. They recently raised $30 million in its second round of funding led by existing investors Tiger Global Management and Blume Ventures, venture capital firm
