Roborace: introducing “DevBot”

Roborace unveils “DevBot” — an intelligent, robotic, driverless, electric development car.

The primary purpose of the DevBot is to allow teams to develop their software and experience the hardware that will be used on the “Robocar”.

Unlike the Robocar the DevBot has a cabin that can be driven by a human or a computer allowing teams to fully understand how the car thinks and feels on a racetrack alongside the comprehensive real-time data.

The DevBot is equipped with the same drivetrain, sensors, computation systems and communication technology as the Robocar designed by Daniel Simon which will be revealed later this year in 2016.

Inside Roborace: An exclusive behind the scenes documentary

“INSIDE ROBORACE” is a YouTube series documenting the in depth process of one of the most complex artificial intelligence vehicles ever made and offering an exclusive insight into how the team are bringing the car and the competition to life.

The fly on the wall series will feature un-edited short documentary style films that will be released every two weeks giving an all-access look at the Roborace team working towards their first ever season of racing in 2017. First episode will air on 14th October 2016.

The Roborace team return from Hong Kong having assembled two more DevBot’s in Oxford. The team takes DevBot 2 on the track for the first time at Silverstone.

Both cars are tested and set to run in driverless mode ahead of a visit to Marakesh that coincides with the United Nations COP22 global climate change initiative and a driverless demo on a Formula E city street track.
