Xombie GENIE 500m Parabolic EDL Flight

    Published on Apr 2, 2013

Last week, Xombie completed a flight for NASA's Flight Opportunities Program controlled by Draper Laboratory's GENIE (Guidance Embedded Navigator Integration Environment) that took Xombie to nearly 500 meters in altitude - taller than the Empire State Building - and 300 meters downrange. During this flight, the vehicle reached 26 meters per second (~58 mph) as GENIE guided Xombie downrange under the watchful eye of Masten's Sensei™ software, which provided flight safety and mission assurance.

Highest, Longest Flight To Date for Xombie & Genie

    Published on Apr 2, 2013

Masten Space Systems' Xombie space-access technology demonstrator recently flew its highest and longest flight to date, guided by Draper Lab's GENIE navigation and control system that is designed to replicate the speed and angle of a planetary approach. Xombie
Ascended more than 1,600 feet above ground and flew almost 1,000 feet laterally before making a pin-point vertical landing on another pad.

Next generation reusable rockets - Xodiac and XaeroB

    Published on Jun 7, 2016

Introducing the next generation of reusable rockets - Masten's Xodiac and XaeroB.

As the successors to Xombie, Xoie, and Xaero, these two rockets serve as terrestrial test beds for commercial and government developers. Features of Masten terrestrial test bed include:
    - precision vertical landing
    - custom flight profile
    - rapid iteration
    - custom physical/mechanical integration
    - rocket powered station keeping

Masten Space Systems reusable launch vehicles are low-altitude, rocket-powered, autonomous Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTVL) testbeds.

Our approach to flight operations is rapid iteration and same day turnaround. We quickly test, evaluate, pivot, and test again.

Leveraging Masten’s vehicles and platform, engineers are able to safely and accurately test their developing space systems in a relevant operational environment before it gets to the Moon, Mars, or anywhere else in the solar system.
