A retail presence on the Web. The virtual store is an online store that displays merchandise and an order form. A live text chat may be offered, in which the customer interacts in real time with a company representative.

Definition of: virtual shopping

(1) Making purchases at a website.
(2) Selecting items for delivery via smartphones. In 2011, Tesco Homeplus opened a virtual supermarket in a South Korean subway station that displays merchandise as if it were on a physical shelf. Customers scan the barcode of the items they want with their Homeplus app, and delivery is made at the end of the day.
