International Partners NextGen Report Launch: How AI can work for humanity

    Sep 25, 2020

Artificial intelligence will disrupt labor markets and the global economy. Tech companies will benefit, but governments must lead on addressing its negative impacts. On September 24, 2020, Vivian Schiller, Executive Director of Aspen Digital moderated a conversation with Vice President Věra Jourová, Vice President of the European Commission for Values and Transparency and Sarah Bird, Principal Program Manager, Emerging Technology and Research Strategy Lead, Responsible AI Lead at Microsoft Azure AI, and the NextGen Network of 130 global young people to discuss what policies could alleviate challenges young people will face. This was the culminating event to launch the The NextGen Report: How AI can work for humanity (www.aspennextgen.org), which outlines perspectives from the Network around how artificial intelligence could address major societal challenges and reduce the technology’s negative impacts. The network is a collaboration of the Aspen Institute’s eleven international partners and currently has chapters in Mexico, Germany, Central Europe, India, France, and the United Kingdom.
