The son of an MIT professor, Tyler Jacks followed a circuitous educational path before joining the MIT faculty in 1992. He is an award-winning pioneer in using gene-targeting technology in mice to study human cancer types. A former director of the Center for Cancer Research, he now heads the David H. Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research, a groundbreaking cancer-research facility that unites scientists and engineers in the development of new treatment options.
