When Hal discovers a damaged Android named MIA on the beach he takes her back to his desert home to reconstruct her. Hal, whose wife is in a coma and is dying of an incurable infection, hopes to turn MIA into a home and health aide but limited by the amount of power he can divert from life support for his wife he can only charge MIA on batteries he must leave the home to find. When MIA awakes she insists that she must be charged to full capacity on house power in order to flee the dangerous people pursuing her leaving Hal with a life and death choice.
