    Fujisawa SST Smart Lifestyle Announcement

    The "Sustainable Smart Life Announcement" was held on October 21, 2013 in the city of Fujisawa, where development of the Fujisawa Sustainable Smart Town is underway. During this announcement, new commercial, health, welfare, and educational facilities, various town services, and the partners who are helping to bring a smart lifestyle to life were introduced. The launch of the new town is in spring 2014. In the meantime, these partners will "further accelerate their efforts towards the development of an integrated and advanced smart town that brings energy to life."

    Video analytics for smart cities

    Microsoft Research has an on-going pilot in Bellevue, Washington for active traffic monitoring of traffic intersections live 24X7.

    This project is focused on is video streams from cameras at traffic intersections. Traffic-related accidents are among the top 10 reasons for fatalities worldwide. This project partners with jurisdictions to identify traffic details—vehicles, pedestrians, bikes—that impact traffic planning and safety.
