Meet K5, a robot developed by local start-up Knightscope. The company says it and a companion data analysis system have the potential to cut crime in half in areas where it's used.

William Santana Li, Knightscope’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, was a featured panelist at the 2015 Milken Institute Global Conference. The Milken Institute is a nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank determined to increase global prosperity by advancing collaborative solutions that widen access to capital, create jobs and improve health.
Milken’s famed panel this year was titled “The Future is Now: Things That Will Blow Your Mind.” Knightscope gave an on-stage live demonstration to a room filled to capacity. From the conference in Beverly Hills, the audience was able view the unprecedented autonomous monitoring capabilities of the K5 machines operating in Silicon Valley, through the Knightscope Security Operations Center (KSOC), a proprietary browser-based user interface.
