    Arianespace has successfully launched four more satellites in the Galileo constellation. Liftoff was at 8:25 a.m. (local time) July 25, 2018 from the Guiana Space Center, Europe’s Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana.

    Today’s launch was the 99th mission by the Ariane 5 heavy launcher. It was carried out on behalf of the European Commission as part of a contract with the European Space Agency (ESA). It also was the last in a series of three launches for Galileo using the version of Ariane 5 with a storable propellant upper stage (ES).

    Arianespace Flight VA243 – Successful Ariane 5 Launch

    Arianespace has successfully launched two communications satellites: Horizons 3e for Intelsat and SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation, and Azerspace-2/Intelsat 38 for Azercosmos and Intelsat.

    The launch took place on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 19:38 pm (local time) from the Guiana Space Center (CSG), Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana (South America).

    This was Arianespace’s sixth mission of the year, as well as the 100th mission by the Ariane 5 heavy launcher. In 22 years of operations, Ariane 5 has orbited a total of 207 satellites.

    Today’s launch also marked the 300th mission by the Arianespace family of launchers, reflecting the company’s ongoing role in support of leading satellite.

    Arianespace Flight VA245 – BepiColombo

    For its seventh launch of the year, Arianespace will use an Ariane 5 ECA from the Guiana Space Center (CSG) to send the BepiColombo spacecraft on its way to the solar system’s smallest and least-explored terrestrial planet: Mercury.

    The BepiColombo mission will be carried out jointly by the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).

    After launching the successful Rosetta mission in 2004, Arianespace once again helps unlock mysteries of deep space.

    Liftoff is planned on Friday, October 19, 2018 at exactly:

    Ariane 5 ECA launches GSAT-11 and GEO-KOMPSAT-2A satellites

    An Ariane 5 ECA launch vehicle (Ariane Flight VA246) launched GSAT-11 for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and GEO- KOMPSAT-2A for the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) from Ariane Launch Complex No. 3 (ELA 3) at Guiana Space Centre in Kourou, French Guiana, on 4 December 2018, at 20:37 UTC (17:37 Guiana time; 5 December, 02:07 IST and 05:37 KST). GSAT-11 is the largest and heaviest telecommunication satellite designed and manufactured by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), weighing about 5854 kg. GEO-KOMPSAT-2A (3507 kg) is designed to conduct meteorological and space weather monitoring missions for the Korean Government.

    Arianespace has successfully orbited two satellites: GSAT-11 for ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation), and GEO-KOMPSAT-2A for KARI (Korea Aerospace Research Institute). With this mission dedicated to space applications for telecommunications and meteorology, Arianespace once again contributes to the improvement of life on Earth.

    The sixth Ariane 5 launch of the year took place on Tuesday, December 4 at 5:37 pm (local time) from the Guiana Space Center (CSG), Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana (South America).

    This 10th mission in 2018 reflects the availability and flexibility of Arianespace, which has performed a launch every two weeks since November 6.

    For its first launch of 2019, Arianespace will orbit two
    telecommunications satellites using an Ariane 5 from the Guiana Space Center: Saudi Geostationary Satellite 1/Hellas Sat 4, a condosat for KACST (and Hellas Sat; along with GSAT-31 for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

    Through this 103rd Ariane 5 mission – the 70th with an Ariane 5 ECA version – Arianespace confirms its leadership in the geostationary launch services market segment.

    Composed of two payloads, Saudi Geostationary Satellite 1/Hellas Sat 4, also called HS- 4/SGS-1, is a geostationary condosat for KACST (King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology – Saudi Arabia) and Hellas Sat (Greece – Cyprus). To be installed as Flight VA247’s upper passenger, HS-4/SGS-1 will provide telecommunications capabilities, including television, Internet, telephone and secure communications in the Middle East, South Africa and Europe.

    The Saudi Geostationary Satellite 1 communications payload will provide advanced Ka-band spot beam communications services for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s KACST, including secure communications for the Gulf Cooperative Council region. KACST is an independent scientific organization of the government of Saudi Arabia that is responsible for the promotion of science and technology in the Kingdom.

    The Hellas Sat 4 communications payload, on the other hand, will offer advanced Ku-band regional beam communications services for Arabsat’s subsidiary Hellas Sat, a Greek-Cypriot satellite operator which provides services to leading Direct-to-Home (DTH) operators by delivering contents to more than 3 million households.

    With a design life of more than 15 years with orbital maneuver up to 23 years, HS-4/SGS-1 will be positioned at 39° East and will join Hellas Sat 3, launched by Arianespace on June 28, 2017 from the Guiana Space Center (on Flight VA238).

    Since the launch of Arabsat-1A in 1985, Arianespace has expanded its services to the Middle East, and since then, has developed a trust-based relationship with historical telecommunications operations such as Arabsat. As such, HS-4/SGS-1 will be the 22nd satellites orbited for the Middle East region, accompanying the development of middle-eastern space programs.

    Headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, USA, Lockheed Martin Space designed, assembled and integrated the HS-4/SGS-1 satellite in its Denver, Colorado and Sunnyvale, California facilities. HS-4/SGS-1 will be the 46th Lockheed Martin satellite to be launched by Arianespace, whose backlog comprises one additional satellite built by the American manufacturer.

    Following the launch of GSAT-11 for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) using the yearending Ariane 5 of 2018, Arianespace will orbit GSAT-31 utilizing the initial Ariane 5 in 2019.

    To be installed as Flight VA247’s lower passenger, GSAT-31 is a telecommunications satellite designed and manufactured by the Indian space agency. To be positioned at a longitude of 48° East, GSAT-31 is configured on ISRO’s enhanced I-2K bus structure to provide communications services from geostationary orbit in Ku-band for a lifetime greater than 15 years.

    By operating GSAT-31, ISRO will – once again – foster the use of space to help bridge the digital divide in the Indian subcontinent as part of its ambitious space program, whose objectives are to develop India while pursuing science research and planetary exploration.

    Since the launch of India’s APPLE experimental satellite on Ariane Flight L03 in 1981, Arianespace has orbited 22 satellites and signed 24 launch contracts with the Indian space agency. It has also won 89% of the geostationary orbit launch contracts opened to non-Indian launch vehicles.

    The orbiting of GSAT-31 – along with GSAT-30, which is an additional geostationary satellite to be lofted soon by the European launch services provider, Arianespace – marks another vivid demonstration of the strong bond uniting Europe and India in space cooperation.

    FLIGHT VA248: ARIANESPACE WILL ORBIT T-16 AND EUTELSAT 7C

    With its fifth launch of 2019, and the second this year using an Ariane 5 vehicle, Arianespace will serve two world-class satellite operators by orbiting T-16 and EUTELSAT 7C. Both spacecraft will be deployed to Geostationary Transfer Orbit (GTO).

    Flight VA248 will be performed from Ariane Launch Complex No. 3 (ELA 3) in Kourou, French Guiana.

    DATE AND TIME
    Liftoff is planned on Thursday, June 20, 2019 as early as possible within the following launch window:
    - Between 2:43 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. El Segundo, California, USA time
    - Between 5:43 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Washington, D.C., USA time
    - Between 6:43 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Kourou, French Guiana time
    - Between 21:43 and 23:30 Universal Time (UTC)

    Ariane 5 ECA launches AT&T T-16 and EUTELSAT 7C satellites

    An Ariane 5 ECA launch vehicle (Ariane Flight VA248) launched AT&T T-16 and EUTELSAT 7C satellites to Geostationary Transfer Orbit (GTO) from Ariane Launch Complex No. 3 (ELA 3) at Guiana Space Centre in Kourou, French Guiana, on 20 June 2019, at 21:43 UTC (18:43 local time). T-16 was manufactured by Airbus Defence and Space and will provide high-power broadcast services in Ku- and Ka-bands. EUTELSAT 7C was built by Maxar Technologies in Palo Alto, California, and is a high-power broadcast satellite for markets in Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Turkey.
