While Velodyne is known for its subwoofers and sound systems that focused on low distortion while hitting the lowest of the low end of the sound spectrum, its CEO David Hall continues to innovate in other spaces.
While totally different from subwoofers, David Hall has built LiDar (light detection and ranging) sensors that has helped the future of the self-driving car closer. With other LiDar sensors are being used today, you can immediately spot a Velodyne LiDar as its the only sensor that you can see spinning while being used.
David Hall hasn't stopped innovating as Velodyne Marine has created the world's first boat that has a self stabilizing platform. Built with two pontoons to support the leveled platform, it's servo control and high speed electro-mechanical system automatically keeps this platform stabilized despite hitting wave after wave.
While the three applications are totally different, all three use sensors that make immediate adjustments on the fly. Hear David Hall talk about his innovations, sensors, and the future the self driving car.
