Numo is a prototype that was built to demonstrate the feasibility of a small scale, portable wall climber. Numo is capable of driving on a wide variety of surfaces – including concrete, brick, painted walls and smooth surfaces. Built with technology similar to a hand held vacuum, combined with a flexible seal, these components allow it to easily adhere to any surface. Where as Otto was confined to smooth surfaces, Numo's custom seal and size provide a more flexible robot that can tackle a larger range of applications.

Numo is powered by swappable, rechargeable batteries, making it wireless and portable, with a run time of approximately 25 minutes. It utilizes two wheel drive and the ability to make 360? in-place turns. We modified an off the shelf stud finder to demonstrate the cababilites of fixating scanner/sensors and performing Non Destructive Testing on a variety of surfaces.

Numo is also capable of automated and hands-free driving, which can be easily implemented. For the purposes of this prototype, automated driving was successfully tested but not optimized.
