    OC Robotics - Snake-Arm Demonstrations

    Uploaded on Feb 13, 2012

OC Robotics worked closely with Salvarem and Areva NC to demonstrate the remote-handling capability of a snake-arm robot in a confined and hazardous environment. Snake-arm robots are general purpose delivery tools for confined space working in hazardous areas.

OC Robotics designs and manufactures snake-arm robots, which are specifically designed to perform remote handling operations in confined and hazardous spaces. OC Robotics has delivered robots for industries spanning - amongst others - nuclear, aerospace, medical and security. It has also provided consultancy and analysis services for these sectors.

Snake-arm robots have a long, slender and flexible design, fitting effortlessly through small openings and around obstacles. Snake-arm robots do not need support from the environment, which means that they can navigate through an open space, avoiding obstacles, carrying tools and conducting work.

OC Robotics - Introducing the Series 2 - X125 system

    Published on Dec 17, 2014

OC Robotics is pleased to introduce the Series II - X125 system. This Series II system builds upon the successful JetSnake product deployed on the Miami port tunnel boring machine.

The Series II - X125 system delivers a 6kg payload, arm bend of over 225 degrees and a highly flexible tip. The 2.2m arm has passed a series of extended operational tests and been designed for increased reliability and easy maintenance to reduce through life costs.

This particular Series II - X125 system has been successfully deployed with a high pressure water jet and inspection camera. Different tools can be selected to compliment the snake-arm, depending on application. For further information or to discuss your requirement please contact us.

LaserSnake2 - First Laser Cutting Trials at TWI - Feb 2016

    Published on May 26, 2016

The LaserSnake system was configured for laser cutting and shipped to TWI for integration with the ULO laser process head. During the trials the system cut both curved and flat mild and stainless steels up to 40mm. A number of piercing operations were also successfully performed. The team established cut set up and cutting parameters. The project partners were able to build on earlier laboratory learnings covering laser power levels, illumination, using the systems high repeatability and control.
