Outdoor Precise Autonomous UAV Swarm Formation without GPS (GNSS, GLONASS etc)

    Published on May 21, 2014

Three UAVs are flown autonomously by computer in tight formation without aid from any Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo etc).

    Video Synopsis:
Current outdoor UAVs utilise GPS or GNSS signals for navigation outdoors. However, GNSS signals are inaccurate (up to 5m accuracy) and are susceptible to interference or jamming. GNSS signals also perform badly in vicinity of tall buildings or structures due to poor satellite signals needed for positioning. GPS RTK signals, although more accurate than GPS, are also susceptible to interference and blocked signals from tall structures in the vicinity.

We aim to overcome the above problems by circumventing the use of GPS(GNSS) and to provide precise outdoor UAV applications in a GNSS-denied environment and this is a simple demonstration of our result from many months of R&D. Three UAVs are shown flying right next to a tall building and trees with precision and positioning accuracy.

    Potential Commercial Applications include:
Urban UAV transport/delivery, UAV security surveillance in a dense urban environment. UAV applications in GPS denied environment such as forested areas and indoors, and any outdoor UAV applications near tall structures such as buildings, trees, power cables or electricity pylons.

Outdoor Formation Flight Night Testing for 5 UAVs

    Published on Jan 20, 2015

The video shows the successful demonstration of flying 5 UAVs in a formation flight. Aerial patterns can be formed using UAVs and at a very high speed. We have developed our patent-pending technology to be able to scale up to 50 or 100 drones executing the multiple UAV formation to light up the night skyline.

Using our proprietary anti-collision algorithms, we can change formations at a very fast pace with by varying X, Y and Z coordinates of each UAV simultaneously. There is no need to geographically separate each UAV by height before changing their lateral positions.

The flight time for each UAV Outdoor flight performance is 30min per battery charge.

The setup time for this demo took only 5 mins.

In the next couple of months, we will showcase spectacular outdoor UAV formation displays with more drones, in the range between 30 to 50 drones.

UAV Robot Sky Ballet - SG50

    Published on Jul 27, 2015

    A tribute to Singapore's 50th Birthday that falls on 9th August 2015.

This is a tribute to a nation that has made the impossible possible. A small city-state that has defied the odds and continues to amaze many others over the years. This is also a year of mourning that the founding father, Mr Lee Kuan Yew, the 1st Prime Minister of Singapore, has passed away.

This video epitomizes the technological achievements that Singapore has accomplished in the past 50 years and the future technological marvels that Singapore will continue to achieve in the next 50 years.
