With the APAS speedswitch, Bosch introduces a new feature for the APAS assistant. As of 2016, this feature will complement the safety concept of the APAS assistant. The APAS speedswitch can be set to monitor the far range and vary the APAS assistant’s operating speed, depending on whether or not human beings are nearby.

As long as no employee is located in the far range, the production assistant operates at maximum speed.Once the monitored zone is entered, the APAS assistant automatically drops to a safe speed. The result: increased productivity without sacrificing workplace safety. Due to the specially designed sensor skin of the robot arm the APAS assistant stops even before man and machine touch. It only restarts when the close range is free.
