BlackBerry QNX Digital Instrument Cluster

Published on Sep 25, 2017

A new addition to BlackBerry QNX’s portfolio of safety-certified products, the QNX Platform for Instrument Clusters, is designed to help car manufacturers respond to the new set of challenges with the development of full digital instrument clusters.

The QNX Platform for Instrument Clusters is built on top of BlackBerry QNX’s highly optimized OpenGL based graphics framework targeting automotive instrument cluster reference hardware and is supported by leading cluster UI frameworks. This integration provides the necessary features to enable car manufacturers to build digital instrument clusters with stunning visual effects while meeting their time-to-market requirements.

More importantly, the QNX Platform for Instrument Clusters also delivers an ISO 26262 ASIL B pre-certified graphics monitor subsystem. Coupled with BlackBerry QNX’s ISO 26262 ASIL D pre-certified RTOS and tool chain, the QNX Platform for Instrument Clusters aims to solve the functional safety requirements imposed on critical information on the cluster, such as telltales and gear positions.
