Carol is currently finishing her doctoral research in surgical robotics at Johns Hopkins University and running TinkerBelle Laboratory, focused on creating lovely, low-cost, do-it-yourself projects. She holds a patent on surgical skill evaluation and has been featured on PC World, the Washington Post, NPR and Engadget, among others. Previous projects include underwater and industrial robotics projects at Santa Clara University, space satellite work with Lockheed Martin, people detection efforts at GE Research, and clinical trials for wireless patient monitoring systems with startup AID-Network. She also used to work on a quirky cable television show called Homework Helpline for pre-collegiate students. Carol earned her bachelors at Santa Clara University in Computer Engineering and her masters in Computer Science at Johns Hopkins.
