The HEXBUG Spider XL is 65 percent larger than the Original HEXBUG Spider, and features 360 degree steering, an LED forward eye, and two-channel, user selectable radio-controlled remote control. The two-channel remote control operates in three speeds (slow, medium and fast) when moving forward, and one speed when in reverse, enabling the user to operate multiple bugs independently or at the same time and at varying speeds.
The first mechanical HEXBUG designed for two-person play! These sci-fi robots are fueled with futuristic sound effects and hi-tech, infrared fighting capability. HEXBUG Battle Spiders have a realistic recoil and life-sensor that measures each hit for the ultimate battle experience.
Design your own jumbo-sized HEXBUG with VEX Robotics! This kit contains over 350 snap together pieces, including 6 legs, LED module and interlocking gears. Choose between manual drive mode, controlling the Spider with a remote control, or autonomous drive mode, programming the Spider to mimic real-life behavior!
HEXBUG Robotic Spider from VEX Robotics video review

Please join me for my brief video review of HEXBUG—the Robotic Spider Kit from VEX Robotics! This spider is a 350+ piece set that kids ages 8 and up assemble themselves, just like the popular LEGO playsets. The only difference here is that this set has robotic parts that allow it to actually move about as you command via a small remote control. I reviewed this set in writing for the Best Buy Canada Plug-In Blog as well, so be sure to check that out for additional photos & detail: (blog link coming soon).
