Japan’s Kawasaki Unveils Kaleido 9 Robot For Disaster Rescue

Flexing its shiny fingers and turning its steel-framed body, the Kaleido 9 prepares for a potentially incredible feat.

It reaches over to gently pick up a toy cat—handing it over to an MC at a demonstration showcasing the humanoid robot’s rescue capabilities during a disaster.

According to Japan’s Kawasaki corporation, which spent about a decade developing the robot, the Kaleido 9, which is still in the testing phase, is meant to be deployed to disaster areas where access for humans is difficult.
