MenteeBot goes shopping

Jul 29, 2024

Welcome to the future of accessible shopping with MenteeBot!

In this end-to-end demo, we showcase how MenteeBot transforms the shopping experience for individuals, particularly those using wheelchairs. Through discussions with a global retailer, MenteeBot has been designed to act as the ultimate shopping companion, offering a seamless, natural experience.

Watch as MenteeBot effortlessly grabs a shopping cart and follows a person in a wheelchair. Its advanced perception and AI technologies allow it to act in harmony with the shopper, stopping and starting with precision. Each time the shopper stops to add items to the cart, MenteeBot halts in sync, providing a smooth and intuitive shopping experience. By combining innovative robotics with practical application, we've showcased a solution that supports independence and enhances the overall shopping experience for those with mobility challenges.

MenteeBot follows verbal instruction (no teleoperation)

Premiered Jan 7, 2026

One way to have a robot perform a task is through demonstration. Another is by giving a verbal instruction in any language.

When asked to bring a can, the robot understands the request, identifies the correct can, navigates to the counter, searches for a matching item, picks it up, and brings it back to the person. This sequence combines language understanding, scene perception, navigation, and manipulation into a single coherent behavior. *No teleoperation is used.*

This approach significantly lowers the barrier to human-robot collaboration, enabling non-experts to deploy humanoid robots effectively in real-world environments.
