How to make a Raspberry Pi smart mirror

Published on Sep 5, 2016

In this video, we give you some detailed instructions on how to make an easy raspberry pi powered home smart mirror. A smart mirror displays applications so that you can check the weather, local news, etc. while you are getting ready in the morning. It's also modular, so you can easy move it around or hang it on the wall if you like. We've created a basic application that you can run on the smart mirror, but it's totally customizable if you want to write some of your own code. We use a Raspberry Pi 3 in this video, but you can also use an A, B+ or any other Pi.

Apple Mirror - smart touchscreen mirror

Published on Sep 28, 2016

Created a fully functioning smart touchscreen mirror based on Apple’s iOS 10.

Design includes the time and date in the upper right hand corner and weather in the top left. All apps can be moved around and placed anywhere on the mirror. After 45 seconds of inactivity the mirror goes to sleep (appears as any ordinary mirror), simply tap anywhere to wake back up and resume use. Some useful things you can do with this mirror: Request an Uber, watch Netflix, read the news, control smart thermostat / light bulbs, control Sonos speaker system and more.

DIY Smart Mirror - Full tutorial

Jan 22, 2021

In this video we build a DIY smart mirror using a raspberry pi, a two way mirror, led tv screen, and Magic Mirror. We started our smart mirror with just a tv and dakboard but after a year we decided to do a Magic Mirror on raspberry pi. Once we had our raspberry pi and had magic mirror installed we connected it to the tv, built a pine frame, stained the frame, purchased a custom sized 2 way mirror, and assembled everything. Magic mirror isn't as user friendly as Dakboard but with a little bit of time you'll get there. Check out the links below in order to build your smart mirror.
