Blue Ghost M1 & Hakuto-R M2 launch and Falcon 9 first stage landing

Jan 15, 2025

A SpaceX Falcon 9 launch vehicle launched Firefly Aerospace’s Blue Ghost Mission 1 (Blue Ghost M1 lunar lander) and ispace’s Hakuto-R Mission 2 (Hakuto-R M2 RESILIENCE lunar lander) to the Moon from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, Florida, on 15 January 2025, at 06:11 UTC (01:11 EST). Following stage separation, Falcon 9’s first stage landed on the “Just Read the Instructions” droneship, stationed in the Atlantic Ocean. Falcon 9’s first stage (B1085) previously supported Crew-9, RRT-1 and 2 Starlink missions.

Blue Ghost M1 deployment

Jan 15, 2025

Firefly Aerospace’s Blue Ghost Mission 1 (Blue Ghost M1 lunar lander) was successfully deployed into a highly elliptical Earth orbit, approximately 66 minutes after being launched by a SpaceX Falcon 9 launch vehicle from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, Florida, on 15 January 2025, at 06:11 UTC (01:11 EST). Blue Ghost Mission 1 is Firefly Aerospace first commercial robotic mission to the Moon, that aims to land the Blue Ghost lunar lander in the Mare Crisium basin, near an ancient volcanic feature called Mons Latreille.
