Meet GoFa, your new robotic helping hand. GoFa is a lightweight small footprint collaborative robot designed to help any industry take their automation to the next level. GoFa is fast and accurate, capable of operating at 2.2 m/s. With a class-leading reach of 950mm, and the ability to handle payloads up to 5kg, GoFa loves demanding, repetitive tasks. For maximum safety, GoFa features intelligent sensors in every joint that stop the robot within milliseconds if contact is detected, allowing for robot and human workers to share workspaces and cooperate on the same tasks without physical barriers or fences.

How ABB’s GoFa Cobot Helps Build Homes for Urban Wildlife | NEST Façade at TUM

Nov 14, 2025

Urban wildlife is running out of places to call home but researchers at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) have found a way to change that.

Using ABB’s GoFa cobot, an interdisciplinary team developed 3D-printed façade modules made from recycled ceramic clay that serve as nesting spaces for birds and small animals.

Each element is digitally designed using climate data and ecological needs; GoFa's precision enabled 3D printing and processing over 100 unique ceramic modules tailored to these requirements.

This pioneering project is part of the New European Bauhaus “Creating NEBourhoods Together” and ECOLOPES EU initiative brings together architecture, ecology, and robotics to design facades that live and breathe with the city.
