EPRI is developing a prototype transmission line inspection robot that has been designed to traverse 80 miles of line at least twice a year, collecting high-fidelity information that utilities can act on in real time.
The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) is developing a robot that crawls along and inspects a transmission line non-ceramic insulator (NCI). This video shows a demonstration of the method by which the robot travels along the insulator.
The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) is investigating the feasibility of utilizing snake robots for transmission line inspection. This video shows a demonstration of the snake robot climbing a pole.
