In this video presentation Prof. Fabio Bonsignorio talks about novel ideas that might just lead to a paradigm change in the robotics landscape. In particular, he refers to robot systems and the issue concerning their application in a natural environment rather than on a factory floor where the system is operated and controlled by professionals. To change that and to create a true paradigm shift which would allow for robotic systems to intuitively adapt within an uncontrolled environment we can’t rely on adding more technology to robots; according to Prof. Bonsignorio, there is the necessity to work on new research that would allow for robots to spend less computing power and rely more on cognitive knowledge extracted from network interaction physical agents.
So how do we do that? Prof. Bonsignorio forwards his ideas and the most exciting research, such as the concept of entropy and information driven self-organisation, to guide us towards a new approach to intelligent systems.
