DLR assistive robot MAYA at Automatica

Oct 2, 2025

The assistive robot Maya, newly developed at DLR, is designed to enable people with severe physical disabilities to lead more independent lives. The new robotic arm is built for seamless wheelchair integration, with optimized kinematics for stowing, ground-level access, and compatibility with standing functions. Following our assistive robot EDAN, the innovation lies in the intuitive robot control, which allows users to master complex everyday tasks safely and with the desired level of support. This unique, AI-supported interaction makes robotic manipulation suitable for everyday use.
