New technologies, especially social media and algorithms, have reinforced existential tensions that are changing culture today and contributing to the fragmentation of the social fabric. How should we act in order to subvert these dysfunctional developments?
Engineer and entrepreneur Nell Watson works in the field of artificial intelligence, and studies the ethics of machines and the relationship between humanity and robotics. She is the co-founder of Quantacorp - a body scanning technology - and Ethicsnet - a non-profit dedicated to the interaction between human beings and machines. She has already been TEDx speaker in Antwerp and teaches Artificial Intelligence at the Singularity University, a think tank located in the Silicon Valley. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
