Lately I’ve been seeing more and more information about AI sex dolls, so I thought I’d make a post to summarize what I’ve come across so far.
First, there’s RealDoll’s AI dolls. They’ve always positioned themselves as a high-end brand, and their RealDoll Robot series feels quite mature. The dolls are very realistic—eyes, mouth, and other features can move, and the technology seems solid. The downside, at least for some of their models, is that the makeup and overall aesthetic feel a bit plain. That said, they are constantly being upgraded.
Then there’s Ridmii’s AI sex doll, Tenar, which I’ve been following closely. This is the brand’s first AI doll, and I think it meets expectations quite well. Interaction feels natural, the facial expressions change, and this part is really impressive. Another bonus is that there’s no extra monthly subscription fee. Compared to RealDoll, Tenar is much more affordable, and the makeup and overall appearance are also quite nice.
There are also some AI “boxes”—essentially devices you can attach to regular dolls to enable voice interaction. While they allow for chatting, the realism is limited since the doll’s mouth and expressions don’t move. It can feel a bit strange, and most of these boxes seem to require a monthly subscription rather than a one-time purchase.
