Laser-guided inspection robot for the Non-Destructive Testing of thin steel gauge welds in the shipping industry - Initial test of the manipulator crawling robot on a vertical plane.
This video shows the in-progress development of a manipulator crawling robot used for the deployment of the volumetric (phased array ultrasonic testing) and the surface inspection (Alternating Current Field Measurement ie. ACFM testing along with optical inspection) of thin steel gauge welds used to assemble ship hull. This work is being performed by Innora Robotics & Automation Ltd in the X-Scan project. This robot will be in the later stage of the development automated and guided by laser.
