Automated Driving in fog with 1550 nm LiDAR

Published on Jul 8, 2018

VTT’s robot car Marilyn is driving through to fog wall with using 1550 nm LiDAR technology. The car drives fully automated mode through to narrow tent full of fog and avoids accident with a pedestrian. The car first try to drive with 905 nm laser scanner but recognises the fog wall to be an obstacle. Then 1550 nm LiDAR is activated for seeing in dense fog.
