A Long March-4C launch vehicle launched the fourth Yaogan-34 remote-sensing satellite from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, Gansu Province, China, on 31 March 2023, at 06:27 UTC (14:27 local time). According to official sources, the remote sensing satellite Yaogan-34-04 (遥感三十四号04星) entered its predetermined orbit and “will be used in areas such as land resources survey, urban planning, crop yield estimation, and disaster prevention and mitigation”.

A Long March-3B launch vehicle launched the first backup BeiDou-3 navigation satellite from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center, Sichuan Province, southwest China, on 17 May 2023, at 02:49 UTC (10:49 local time). The geostationary satellite is the 56th of the BeiDou family and the first to act as a backup satellite for China’s BeiDou-3 Navigation Satellite System (BDS-3).

According to official sources, the Macao Science-1 satellites were “placed in a near-equatorial orbit to monitor the geomagnetic field and the space environment” and LuoJia-2 01 is a “scientific experiment satellite”.

According to official sources, “the 41 satellites are all sub-meter high-resolution remote sensing satellites which are designed and manufactured by Chang Guang Satellite Technology Co.,Ltd, which are used to obtain high-resolution remote sensing image of Earth observation,provide remote sensing information services such as situation analysis, target monitoring, and regional census for users, and provide the remote sensing data services for territorial and mineral resources exploration, smart city construction and other industries.”

According to official sources, Skysight AS-01 is a low-orbit synthetic aperture radar satellite, Skysight AS-02 is an optical remote sensing satellite, Skysight AS-03 is an infrared remote sensing satellite and Lingxi-03 satellite is a broadband communications technology verification satellite. All satellites have been placed in the desired orbits.

A Long March-4C launch vehicle launched the FengYun-3F meteorological satellite from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, Gansu Province, northwest China, on 3 August 2023, at 03:47 UTC (11:47 local time). According to official sources, FengYun-3F (FY-3F, 风云三号F星 – 上午星, 风云三号06星)was successfully placed into a Sun-synchronous orbit (830km). The satellite (~2700 kg) is equipped with 10 instruments, providing data about “global ozone distribution, ice and snow cover, sea surface temperature, remote sensing information needed for short-term climate prediction and climate change prediction, and greatly improve the observation of the vertical profile of atmospheric temperature and humidity”.

The Huanjing-2 06 (环境减灾二号06) satellite, also know as S-SAR-02, is designed to collect 5-metre resolution S-band radar image data and will “support disaster prevention, reduction, relief, and environmental protection”. According to official sources, the satellite entered the planned orbit and will form a network with S-SAR-01.
